Seamless Migration to Snowflake Enables Scalable, Cloud-First Data Platform for Global Manufacturer
A global manufacturing company, producing air, fluid, energy, and medical technologies across more than 40 brands, was facing rising complexity and cost with its on-premises data warehouse (Cloudera/Hadoop). Needing scalability, simplified maintenance, and better capabilities for data sharing with both internal and external partners (vendors, brands, third parties), and with a renewal of its existing infrastructure looming, the company turned to phData for a migration plan.
phData guided them through a proof-of-concept phase, then executed a full “lift and shift” migration: mapping information architecture; transferring over 10,000 data objects; combining nine data sources; automating pipelines; versioning SQL with tools like Flyway; and ensuring secure user/workspace provisioning, among other steps.
The result was a fully functional Snowflake cloud environment delivered in ~30 weeks with almost no business disruption. Within just two weeks, basic environment provisioning was done; within a month, change data capture (CDC) and security were in place. The manufacturing company gained the ability to share data effortlessly across its ecosystem, leverage Snowflake’s data marketplace, and significantly reduce maintenance overhead and infrastructure complexity.

Restaurant Chain Transforms IT Support with Generative AI-Powered Automation
A leading U.S. restaurant chain with over 2,700 locations was struggling to keep up with the growing volume of IT support requests as it rapidly expanded. Their help desk faced mounting inefficiencies, with staff spending too much time on repetitive, low-value troubleshooting instead of strategic work. To address this, the company partnered with phData to design and implement a generative AI-powered help bot that could automate and streamline IT issue resolution across all locations.
phData built a secure, scalable solution leveraging AWS services and Amazon Bedrock’s Mistral LLM, enhanced by a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture. The system ingested the client’s existing ServiceNow documentation, vectorized it for retrieval, and deployed it within a web interface powered by AWS Lambda and API Gateway. This allowed the bot to respond to user queries based on the company’s own knowledge base, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with internal IT policies.
Once the project was complete, the client achieved significant improvements in efficiency and scalability. The AI bot now resolves common IT issues up to 30 times faster than previous manual workflows, enabling restaurant staff to quickly get back to operations without waiting for human support. The IT team can now focus on higher-priority projects rather than handling repetitive tickets.

Empowering Cancer Research with Fast, Self-Service Reporting via Snowflake & Sigma
A prominent cancer treatment and research organization was facing challenges with its reporting workflow: much of their data (on over 500,000 patients and 2,500+ variables) was under-utilized because non-technical users (researchers, grant writers, investigators) depended on IT or data specialists to pull reports. Rigid report options and slow turnaround times created bottlenecks in generating insights.
phData proposed and implemented a self-service reporting system by building on the organization’s existing Snowflake data infrastructure and layering Sigma Computing on top to provide a no-code, user-friendly interface. They collaborated with the client to map out data types, sample tables, relationships, and filtering needs (including longitudinal filtering, which lets users query patient data across time, ex, “any time a patient’s hemoglobin values exceeded a certain threshold”) so that the underlying models and workbook were intuitive, accurate, and performant.
As a result, report generation time was dramatically reduced: reports that formerly took around 20 minutes now run in under one minute while supporting more sophisticated analyses. For the client, this meant empowered non-technical users could get timely, richer insights without needing to request help from data specialists, freeing up the latter to focus on higher-value work. Overall, the project boosted efficiency, usability, and the impact of data in guiding research and treatment decisions.
$1M+ Annual Savings & Enhanced Agility Through Cloud Migration for Global Insurer
A large global insurance company with about $77 billion in assets needed to modernize its on-premises data architecture for both cost savings and digital transformation. Their existing setup, based on Hadoop and Spark, was becoming costly, particularly as licensing contracts were nearing renewal. They engaged phData to evaluate alternatives, design a migration plan, and help move their data operations to the cloud. phData used Terraform and standardized CI/CD pipelines to configure AWS EMR to run their existing Spark applications, while also advising on best practices around cloud security, optimization, and leveraging cloud-native features.
As a result, the client is projected to save over $1 million annually in licensing costs. phData not only enabled a more efficient, scalable, and maintainable architecture but also ensured that the transition preserved the functionality the business needed, including its data lake operations.
